BarBQBoozers

The first blog entry here, the first recipe!!
I (the Dutchess) have been thinking about what would be a great recipe to start with. Not easy, because as you know, I’ve got a lot of recipes with booze in it…and yes I do like them all….no excuses from me for that! That’s the great benefit of this website, booze is the only ingredient that is mandatory!! Oh yes, and then there’s also the barbeque of course, but that is just desirable!

For this blog entry I choose Tequila. Arriba! Arriba! (oh do you like that Speedy Gonzales too???) Si, Tequila senoras y senores . And it really is no coincidence that I’m posting this recipe today on Cinco de Mayo Day. Plus, over here, in The Netherlands, we celebrate Liberation Day today. Not that we need a reason to have a party, but it does make you feel less guilty. Guilty?? Who? Me? Yeah right!

Ehm, yes, well, as you might understand by now, we’re going to have some fun here and you’re soooo welcome to join us!!

Now we better get started with the recipe, or the bottle with Tequila will be empty and we do need some for this recipe!

Beef and Tequila Kebobs (or should I say Kebab or Cabob or Shashlik oh well…skewers?? Oh yes I know that’s not Mexican, so this is actually what they call fusion cooking! Ha!)

The marinade:

1 tablespoon lime juice
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup orange juice
¼ cup Tequila
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
Splash Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Tabasco, or as much as you like...
Pinch of salt
some pepper

Cut the beef into large cubes.

Mix all the ingredients for the marinade in a Ziploc bag, add the beef and put it in the fridge for at least 8 hours, or overnight.

The next day, skewer the beef and add some bacon, onion and red bell pepper.

Place them on a hot grill, directly above the coals. Turn them a few times, until they’re ready. This will only take a few minutes (depending on how hot the coals are and how big you cut the beef cubes).

Serve with some fries or bread and a salad!

This was a delicious dinner, the salad in the picture will be the next recipe so don’t forget to come back for more!!

And, Burgerman, what was on your plate, or should I ask what was in your glass??

Cheers, it’s time for a drink :-)))
